Mrs Davies, a visitor from Pontypridd - In her case,on reaching retirement. Looked at her situation and decided to down size from a four bedroomed house to a two bedroomed apartment.
With the residual monies she invested in three holiday chalets in Saundersfoot.
Not only has she got an investment. But she also has an income to supplement her State and Private Pensions.
Mr & Mrs Hollins of Richmond - Choice was to down size from a town house to an apartment. And to purchase a villa in Cyprus. They spend the winter in Cyprus and the summer in England visiting friends snd relatives.
The part time rental of both properties supplementing their income.
Mr & Mrs O'Brian - of Schull - Sold up the family farm and purchased a row of three cottages. They retired to one of them and rent the other two.
Mr & Mrs Cavandish of Ilchester. Sold thier business and home. Purchased aa villa in Spain and a Motorhome. They also, rent the villa out during the summer month and travel around Europe in the Motorhome, returning to Spain for the winter.
Residual monies having been used to take out an annuity.
Mr & Mrs Tucker- of No fixed abode - Settled on an unique approach they negotiated a deal with a well known Hotel chain.
Where for a fixed annual fee they are gaurenteed a room and meals wherever they go.
Giving them tremendous choice and freedom. Having completed the deal they sold everything snd invested the money.
It is not unknown for Stars to negotiate similar deals. Usually with an individual hotel.
Pamela and Roger Toone - Decision was to sell up and buy a catermaran, as they were both fit and had no ties. They invested well and are now enjoying their retirement. Sailing around the world.
OBVIOUSLY :- These options are not available to every one. On a smaller scale.
Here are some more cases:-
Ann & Richard Talbot:- Decided to invest in a time share. Buying six weeks, split up as two weeks, High, Middle and Low seasons. By joinig RCI they are able to excahnge around the world and earn some income by renting out weeks not used.
Anne & John R;- Option was to buy a Motor Home and visit Rally's and friends.
Enid & Graham Jones:- Opted to sell every thing and purchase a static caravan home on a site that allowed eleven months annual occupancy. Taking an annual months break in warmer climates.
There are many ways to surmount a problem. Why not, give us your ideas and solution?
THIS IS SERIOUS;- two retirement-vistors to the site, told a very sad tale. (both insisted their names with held).
BOTH CASES;- concerned the practice of selling your house at a reduced value and continue to live there whilst paying rent.
RETIREMENT-VISITOR. CASE 1
House was sold and Mr & Mrs A continued to live there paying rent ( supposedly for a minimum period of ten years) The rent was increased to level that they could not afford. They were evicted after six months.
RETIREMENT-VISITOR. CASE 2
A similar story although in this case it was the Building Society that evicted them as the property purchaser neglected to pay the mortgage. BE WARNED.
